You cannot chase two rabbits at the same time

Stuffpoint.com

Rabbits appear to be small and naughty animals, and I am wondering if it will be possible to chase them at the same time because they will run to different directions.

As fussy as I am, I have learnt to give my attention in one thing because of the results I’m expecting at the end. I can’t accept defeat or not be satisfied with the final product, which is why it’s impossible for me to focus on too many things.

During my Internship last year, the job was demanding and my grades dropped because I could not balance work and school. In fact, my job took all my attention because I was overwhelmed. I had to submit portfolios and expected to perform well at work. The distance made it worse because I only relied on emails to communicate with my lecturers. There was no direct communication because I was in a different province.

My mistake was to go work in a different province from where I was studying at, and still had to submit feedback from the industry. However I assumed that all submissions made were right because there was no direct communication and consultations with the lecturers.

My rabbits ran to different directions and I didn’t do well at the end of the year even though I was able to graduate, therefore you cannot chase two rabbits at the same time. I was not happy with my final results. Your mind can only focus on one thing at a time.

“Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you only have one idea”

Ideanalyses.sourceforge.net

I know some doesn’t agree with Alain statement that having one idea can be a bit dangerous. In fact it has very bad consequences because it will narrow your mind to focus on that one idea.

Alain stated that, “Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you only have one idea”. By this, he meant that it is safer to have more than just one idea; otherwise one is forced to only try that idea. What happens if that idea doesn’t turn out well? You are messed up.

Last year I got stuck up on my internship, the only idea I had in mind was that I will find a job after my training. That did not work out pretty well, and I had to come with another idea that will be quickly implemented. Coming back to varsity and register for my Btech was a harsh decision because my one idea did not work as planned. I was truly affected by the saying “Failure to plan, is planning to fail” because I was supposed to have a backup plan, that’s idea 2. My family had to come to my rescue and I’m grateful for that.

In that case, no matter how good your idea can be you will need a back-up plan that will widen your thinking.

“Have you figured out the second head fake?”

Sibongilemayaba.blogspot.com

Randy Pausch is a well known life-coach who once wrote the following quote that catched my attention; he said “Too many people go through life complaining about their problems. I've always believed that if you took one tenth the energy you put into complaining and applied it to solving the problem, you'd be surprised by how well things can work out.”

I was the kind who complained about everything, from food to my clothes and family until I volunteered at a homeless shelter. Those people are living a positive life despite of what they have lost in the past (Families, jobs and their assets), they still believe in life like many of us.

Today I change pupil’s lives, as I share my experiences with them through my motivational talks. Some may see it meaningless but I’m glad that people from my audience do come to me afterwards and want to know more about myself as a person and how I started to inspire other people.

How do I begin? Firstly you must get to know yourself, where you coming from and where you are going with life. By doing so you will be able to identify your needs as to set realistic goals that you will be able to achieve. Have a strategy of approaching your problems, than complaining about them and show gratitude to what you have.

“Your upbringing background will not determine your future.” Nontando Nkuna

Your so called problems are an experience that has been prepared for you to go through, take them as a life lesson.

Sports uniting Nations

Guardian.co.uk

Nations get united through sports. I did not understand the hype about us hosting the 2010 soccer world cup until it took place. Everybody was happy, we made friends from the foreign people that came to South Africa and at the end of the day we shared one love, 1Goal.....Soccer. Well id say business contributes when you’re a host country but what really stood out for me was experiencing different cultures and learn new things.

It was too saddening watching the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, I grew to love and enjoy them, and in fact I was addicted. I’d miss my daily programmes just so I can watch the Olympics. Social networks also contributed in sharing the feeling and news about the Olympics. Some sports I didn’t understand but twitter and facebook became my school.

South Africa did not get many medals in the Olympics but we are grateful to the team that went and represented us with a positive spirit. Swimming team was the best and not forgetting our golden girl Caster Semenya who came second in the women final 800m, so in total we had 6 medals.

Our sports minister and his department needs to invest more in grooming this talents because in the next 4 years we want to see south Africa in most of the activities that will be taking place and to triple the number of medals we received this year.

Hoping to have had saved enough so that I can go and experience the love people share during sports gatherings.

Let’s Show Gratitude

August 9, 1956 is the famous day in the South African history since the day was declared a public holiday. 20 000 women marched to the union Buildings in Pretoria to present a petition against the carrying of passes by women to the then Prime minister J.G Stridjom.

Women of all races were united during this march, even though the Prime minister was not there to accept the petition and it was received by his secretary on his behalf. Federation of South African Women (FSAW) was the initiator of the petition to challenge the bylaws that said” a Women’s place is in the kitchen.”

This year we marked the 56th anniversary since the march took place, and many women in this country have a say and are allowed to occupy the supposedly or believed to be men jobs. The older generation fought for what they believed was right. 40% women occupy seats in the parliament and we also have 5 out of 9 are premiers across the country.

The generation that is living today, must embrace what our grandparents have done for us because we are bearing the fruits they have planted.

Akhirnryani.wordpress.com

The first words that we utter from our distraughted mouths is “Can I have another chance, I promise to do better”. This is usually said when we’ve messed up begging for an opportunity to fix whatever have went wrong at that time but the question still remains, if given the chance would you change anything?

Well with me, I would change everything and start over on a clean slate. Receiving my research methodology marks made me see life in a different level. My world shuttered at that very moment and I just thought of where I come from and where I’m going. I am determined to make a great change in building my career and that will begin by changing the figures I got for my project and turn them around.

At this very moment, I can only change my grades and make sure I excel in all my subjects as I need to pass this degree.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

I have never thought of teaching as a career for myself but the more I live the bug also grow faster in me.  Social media proved to be part of our daily lives; we eat sleep and breathe it, a lot of things are happening there and someone has to take a stand and teach all the users on how it is suppose to work.

Social networks gives people the platform to be what they want to be and some make mistakes that cost them their careers and families. We seem not to know what to say at a particular time. People get attacked because of things they say on facebook, twitter or other social network, they need to be taught on how to behave when they are online.

Social psychology and media studies will be the best subject for me to teach all the social media users staring from the fun of being online to the challenges that they will encounter when time goes by. There will be consequences and it will be best that they get to know about some of them, which will prepare them for the challenges.

It will be best not to post information when they are emotional, and mustn’t be used as a platform to discuss their private lives. Your audience needs to understand you and must have relevant information that you share with each other as it will help you in the future.
Social Media can either make you or destroy you.

What motivates me?

I am from a very small family, and my background proved to be not the blissful one. I had to start taking care of myself at a very young age, learnt to be independent and decided on which career path I wanted to take. I had to give life a chance, so I learnt to approached it positively and be the leading example in my community.
I always wanted to be different, to achieve that from my community was to study because most the people did not have University qualifications. My dreams to study succeed and many youngsters decided to follow on my footsteps because they knew where I was coming from but I have succeeded to make better life for myself and lead by example.

Kids who take education serious and those who manage to beat the life obstacles despite of where they come from are my day to day inspiration. What your parents have become in life does not guarantee that you will also be like them. You are your own self and responsible of what you will become.
We need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and do something about it; there will always be relevant people that you can speak to in terms of career guidance and what you would like to be. Make life better by helping others so that this world will be a far better place to be.
