Aftermath Graduation

6 555 students graduated at CPUT’ six faculties on both campuses Bellville and Cape Town.

Those were the very proud moments to all of us who walked on that stage of fame.

Congratulations are in hand to all students who have been working hard on the past few years, the below mentioned students are the top achievers on all graduation ceremonies and they got recognition by the faculty Dean’ and vice chancellor Mazwi- Tanga:

Not that every black person is a criminal

Every white man is not rich

Every Chinese guy is not intelligent or selling fake items

Some of the blacks do love sushi as much as the other Western and Asian cultures.

We can all do well even though we are not aware of the direction we are taking.

Long waited Achievement

It seem like a fairytale that this long waited day has finally came. CPUT is yet to pull another graduation ceremony for the current year on Cape Town and Bellville campuses from date 16 – 21 April 2012.


Some of us will be walking on that stage to accept our qualifications from professor Mazwi-Tanga on the 4th day of the event 19/04 with our families present to share the joy with us. This feeling is way beyond happy as I do not have a suitable word to describe it.

To those who did not make to walk in that stage of fame, in my language we say “Akulahlwa Mbeleko ngakufelwa” (You must never give up).

Finally ill have a chance to play my all time favourite song by Cece Winans – It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it and that’s me finally getting my National Diploma.

How do you step from the top of a 100-foot-pole?

People have the mistake of being prejudice; this is likely to become a bad habit as it will affect your mind-set negatively.

If you always or rather often approach anything with that 100-foot-pole stuck in front of you, then whatever you do is destined to fail.

Before you make a judgement about a certain thing, rather get to the bottom of it or put yourself in that position and see if you have been able to survive it.

Lauryn Hill to Wow audience at Cape Town-Jazz Festival

 The beautiful Mother city is to come to stand still this weekend, as the world is jetting in for the 13th Cape town International Jazz festival(CTJIF) taking place from 30-31 March at the Cape town International Convention Centre(CTICC).


The two days event will have a line-up of 40 International and local artists to perform. Multi Grammy Award winner Ms. Lauryn Hill has been confirmed to be performing at this year’s CTJIF; her performance will take place on Saturday 31 March 2012 at the famous Kippies stage.

Tickets are reported to be sold out for both dates, non-tickets holders are advised not to take chances by the gates as there will be non-available and they will embarrass themselves.

To all going to the Jazz festival,please charge your camera’s battery full and enjoy the beautiful music!!!

Do ex-convicts deserve a second chance?

With a criminal record on your curriculum vitae and served prison sentence must be difficult to find employment. I believe that everyone is entitled to find employment or be given a second chance in life.

I strongly believe in giving someone a second chance, ex con’s always find it hard to settle back in the communities as they will have to earn their trust back and make them believe that they have changed.

Finding a job is another big hassle, management always want to protect their existing employees interest as it would be hard to hire a person who served under a violent crime, there’s a chance of that person might still be volatile. Someone who is a financial offender or embezzled money will not come as an asset in the company as it will be risky to hire them in the financial positions as the risk of being tempted is too high.

On a general statement, ex-con’s have the potential to be extra dedicated and motivated employees who can be grateful to their employers who might have taken a chance on them.

First thing to remember is that each individual is different and must be treated as an individual not just simply an ex-con. This people might have accumulated educational, vocal skills and growth when or before prison that could be an asset to the company or community. Nature of the crime also needs to be examined as in when the date of the sentenced was served for employment purposes.

We all deserve a second chance when we do wrong, why not also grant it to the ex-convicts as they might have changed during their sentence.

We are what we do

 Things that we usually do define who we really are. People might find it hard to believe this but yes “We are what we do” your personality matches up your professional and social life.

Everyone is fighting for recognition, we go all way to boost our ego’s or try as hard as possible to be accepted by our group of friends. We allow our image to do the talk for us as we are always wondering if what others may think of us instead of being realistic to ourselves. The places we live in symbolizes what kind of things we get up to, what kind of life style do we lead. Sometimes people can generalise yet some can work out true or positive as defined.

We are usually judged by what we do, and the kind of people we hang out with as people will always expect you to drink or go to clubs if your friends do that, yet friendship is not only about that, there is more to it……..

Most people if they see that you’re vulnerable can use that to their advantage in making you believe that you are what you do, e.g. some societies are failing to differentiate actors character/stage name and to their personal life. As most believe that Michelle Botes who portrays the character of “Cherel de Villiers” on Isidingo she’s nothing different to her, at some occasions she got attacked for that.

I leave you with this question, “Are we really what we do?
